Following feedback from parents, we have revised our approach to reviewing patients with learning disabilities."
"It is extremely important that parents/carers are listened to when working with individuals with a learning disability, as they know the person best, and are able to pick up on communication cues that may potentially be missed by those that are unfamiliar with the person or their needs."
All patients with a learning disability now receive a 'Pictographic Health Check Checklist' before their appointment to support understanding and help create a more comfortable and less intimidating experience.
Additionally, all of our staff have completed Learning Disability Awareness training.
